It may do if there was in fact any value to the points { you don't even get a Blue Peter badge for getting to level 5 }

As the seventh answerer here - you realize that you probably want more people answering questions than asking. Thus you get more answers per question. Many still go unanswered.

AND points off doesn't seem to discourage much at all. People ask their questions even if they have been asked many, many times before - and THAT my friend, stifles innovation.

I think that one should be rewarded for how many answers that his question generates.

I know that I would be more inclined to attempt to craft a thought provoking question that receives a myriad of thoughtful answers if I were rewarded with extra points for generating several answers.

So, you could have a system where you initially lose ten points, but are then rewarded x points for each set of y answers.

This solution has some obvious deficiencies, but could be an initial start to remedying your assertion.

i was just thinking the same & was also wondering if then, the same person goes on to answer some random questions, just 2 get the points back. i think the whole points structure needs 2 b looked at. it does kind of put u off from asking rather than answering a question. thanks 4 the 2 points lol

I don't ask questions. Most of them are questions that I can look up on the internet and find out myself. I have only asked one question the whole time and it was so that I could apologize not so that I could gain info.

I think that it keeps some from asking more stupid questions then what we get and that is good.

I think that some of the questions people
ask they should be penalised by having all points taken off them.

I don't ask questions because of it - its a shame but I'll put up with it until I get to a higher level - if I can be bothered in a few months time!!

It does me. Of course, I know everything (or at least where to find it), so I don't really need to ask any questions anyways.
Then again, it also encourages us to answer more questions, to balance out any we might ask.

Sorry you lost points. Yeah, it does. But with all the questions around I'd assume it doesn't.
