Yes I do feel that we take our freedoms for granted.

Yes, most of us do. We're too damn lazy to even vote, and the 35% average turnout proves it.
We've forgotten what it's like to suffer the way previous generations did, and we won't appreciate our freedoms until someone tries to steal them from us.

Look up a recent editorial that appeared in the Washington Post and Houston Chronicle, and you'll find that a majority of our school districts no longer teach civics and government.

Yes, but military service is not where freedom comes from. Freedom comes from actively challenging the government, promoting equality, and defending civil liberties. Plenty of despotic governments have mandatory military service and no freedom.

A lot of them do yes.........I think military service should be made mandatory, then they will see where their freedoms come from, and why they have the freedoms that they have!!

Like anything else in life , the more we become accustomed to things the more we seem to take them for granted. we're in too much of a hurry to stop and appreciate things in life. Slow down enjoy the world around you.
