SOMEBODY HAS TO STAND UP TO THESE TYRANTS. WE CAN'T ALL BE SOFT LIKE THE DEMOCRATS. CLINTON PRACTICALLY GAVE AMERICAN SECURITY AWAY.

Well let's see. For 8 years, Bill Clinton paid millions to North Korea as an incentive to NOT research and build a nuclear program. All that time, they took the money and used it to research and build a nuclear program. Way to go, Bill.

When other countries come up with their nuclear programs why does it seem that they want negotiations with the USA ONLY? We aren't the only country in the world, yet Iran and North Korea think so when they do something bad. Let them talk to all the UN countries, the whole world. Why just the US?

What do you want Bush to say to the North Koreans? Maybe offer them more money to not target the USA, so they can take the money and build a more sophisticated targeting system (aka. the Bill Clinton nuclear bribe system)

How does North Korea testing nuclear weapons count as a success for U.S. foriegn policy??????

Isn't this a FAILURE? Sheesh.

And what about "evil countries" like Pakistan, Khazakstan, Saudi Arabia, and many others that we do negotiate with, that are all pretty unsavory, too? And criminy, half this administration help Saddam come to power in the 80's!

Choosing NOT to negotiate with "evil countries" has been yet another blunder by the Bush administration. I think you'd be much happier buffy if you lived in a total dictatorship like North Korea where you wouldn't have to think for yourself, just be TOLD what to think. And you'd not have to worry about all us pesky Liberals as well!!!!

Um...no. "We must never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate." Ask any happily married person. Communication is key, and like it or not on an international level we're all married. Besides, I don't think North Korea has a monopoly on evil. I can see plenty of it coming from the U.S. I also think Bush's' stubbornness is a sign of weakness and I feel less safe every day he continues to pretend to be president.

Oh crap, does that mean that an invasion is imminent?
JD, do you realize that the Bush administration has spent more $$ than any other administration? That's a cold hard fact.
Since 2001, when George W. Bush entered office on the heels of an actual budget surplus left by Bill Clinton, government spending has surged by 45 percent, and not because of defense and the war on terrorism, as some politicians would have us believe.
Of all the federal spending increases since 2001, defense and homeland security are responsible for less than a third.
So-called "discretionary spending," which doesn't include defense and homeland security, is up 7 percent annually during the Bush years, compared to a 4.2 percent increase during the Clinton Administration.
Now JD, what were you saying about taxes?

But Clinton giving him a nuclear reactor, and Albright dining, wining and dancing with the Troll made him turn away from nuclear pursuits, right?

No? How shocking! You mean appeasement and cowardice don't stop tyrannical agressors? Just because appeasement has failed every single time it has been done in all of history doesn't mean it wasn't going to work this time, does it?

Marquz - I agree with your statement:

Isn't it nice that you live in a country who's leader creates reasons why to attack other countries for their oil interests? Who
"murders thousands of innocent civilians under the pretext that it was done by outside terrorists but was done in fact with inside collaboration? Who for decades has bountiful relationships with the Bin Ladins and other people linked with terrorism, yet never gets criticized because that's "un-american"?

Yeah, isn't it nice. "

But I would also add isn't nice how Bush and some of the Republicans are the true axis of evils, who like to use and manipulate the majority of americans thru fear and religion!

When you negotiate with terror countries, you make yourself weaker. What would happen if the N.Koreans agreed to stop their nuclear development for US$50,000,000,000. Then, once the payment was received, start up again, saying that the price is now $100,000,000,000. The line has to be drawn somewhere, And it will not be the North Koreans that attack the US, it will be a terrorist group.

And North Korea buries a hand granade and expects the world to tremble in fear of a new nuclear power.
