usually it wil sound like it is tring to turn over but is not getting gas then when i get it started and pat on the gas hard it cuts out on me again..... and when i do get to drive if i dont idle it myself it will cut off So far i have changed the oil, plugs and wires and checked all fluids.....is it the fuel pump?

Try to replace the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation)valve. It's usually on the valve-cover with a hose leading to the carburetor. Insufficient fuel pressure may be the case..but the pcv is a cheap part. Timing(ignition) is another scenario....try a spin of the distributor(mark your start spot first).troubleshooting will teach you alot...a worn camshaft could be the case too...even restricted exhaust?

Well it could be the fuel pump but I would think more on the lines of the fuel filter. When was the last time you changed it.
If it is startving for fuel, have the fuel pump pressure checked. But before i did that I would change the filter.
