My grandad has been recently taken in to hospital for observation on his condition. The trouble is, he's in there everyday and has nothing to do except for read books and watch tv.
I am writing him a card and am puttng in things to do at the hospital to relieve his boredom.
Have you got any ideas? The more the merrier and as silly as you like!

Having worked in hospitals for a very long time, it can be tough to find things to fill the day.
Some silly ideas:
Hospital food bingo with roommates - fill out a 5x5 grid with standard hospital food options (jello, pudding, chicken, oatmeal, etc) and see who gets bingo first.
Basketball - toss paper, cards, or whatever into trash can, bed pan, the open mouth of a roommmate, etc.
Movies on DVD, portable players are pretty cheap these days
Books on tape / CD
Pocket games like electronic chess, poker, etc or even Gameboy
If he is able to get up and walk, work on the most exciting snack you can create from saltines, graham crackers, bread, and peanut butter in the kitchen on the floor
Name that Nurse - can he identify the nurse, aid, housekeeper, doc by the sound of their shoes, voice, etc
Hand skills / crafts - needlepoint, knitting, knot tying, sewing, oragami
Life story - Take the time to write down interesting stories from his life (be careful he doesn't think that he is about to die as a result of the request!)

How about buying him an Xbox 360, commandeering the telly and letting him do his thing? Worked for my Grandad... he loved Project Gotham Racing 3, and I'm being serious! Failing that, wheelchair races and perving at nurses were always favourites!

i purchased a portable DVD player when i was in the hospital during summer, and one important thing is: Get him good and lots of food. The food in the hospital has no taste to it and the amount is really minimal. Why would a sick person wants to eat such nasty food?!?! My friends bought me sh*t loads of snacks and junk to keep me busy all day long (and to bribe the nurse too...LOL) Food is the key~~~~
