North Korea. Of course, they will only be there in spirit when that happens. What should we do. Can China apply enough pressure?

Yes, we are too thinly spread. For the world's super power to be bogged down in two fringe countries like Iraq and Afghanistan is amazing. Any hard liner who thinks we could intervene in North Korea militarily is out of his mind.
Bush, despite his propensities, has to go the diplomatic route. Conditions in north Asia would produce a conflagration of unspeakable proportions if a negotiated settlement is not reached.
It is beyond my comprehension why Bush refuses to talk to the North Koreans outside of the Six Party Talks. I don't want to be around if he fumbles this one. A bit like Rodney Dangerfield, I think that all North Korea wants is respect along with economic development assistance. At least talk to them about it.
