I work in a special educational preschool program, and have notice that this one child likes to kill bugs by ripping them apart and thinks it is funny! The child also gets very angery, very hyper, and cant keep there hands to themselves. I am very concern about this. I am only an 1:1 aide for an other student. I am not a teacher.

yes! It could be a sensory thing for the student. they like to rip things...does he rip paper or other things apart or just bugs? Keep your eye on this student and if you notice any other signs of warning, like talking about killing other animals or hurting other kids or adults etc. Tell the special ed teacher first and see what they have to say. Then just keep your eyes and ears open. Be careful! Aggressions may come out at some point towards you or other children. Talk to the school psychologist too! Or the social worker. They may have more insight than you know. Good luck!

Is this a sign of ODD? ODD stands for Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

A pattern of negativistic, hostile, and defiant behavior lasting at least six months during which four or more of the following are present:
1. Often loses temper
2. often argues with adults
3. often actively defies or refuses to comply with adults' requests or rules
4. often deliberately annoys people
5. often blames others for his or her mistakes or misbehavior
6. is often touchy or easily annoyed by others
7. is often angry and resentful
8. is often spiteful and vindictive
The disturbance in behavior causes clinically significant impairment in social, academic, or occupational functioning.

I would definitely talk to the teacher and other school personnel about this child. Maybe then they can talk to the parents and get the child evaluated.

I would have them look into ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder).

Good luck!

This is odd. I've been a special ed teacher and it's not normal for few kids But, some children are just simply fascinated with the way bugs come apart. However, it is torture, so to speak, which is never good.

I would suggest this to the teacher and let him/her know you've witnessed this. Encourage him/her to mention it to the parents because it is odd.

I would talk to the advisor about this. This is a sign of something either troubling this child or a symptom of some mental problem. This is NOT normal behaviour. Talk to the teacher over the department.

Yes this is odd.
Make sure you tell the teacher so it can be added to his file.
