I want to campaign to have meditation and yoga compulsory from primary school. It can go a long way to help those delinquents. What is your view?

Thats sounds like a really good idea!
your best option would be to try it out and conduct reports on this. for example approach the headmaster of a school you went to and offer your services free to be used in their physical exercise classes. this way , you will reach your target audience.
however i do believe this would have to be a long term project in the one school before you would even been listened to further a field. that said, i reiterate i think its a brilliant idea and i wish you all the best with it. think of jamie olivers contribution to schools, it was a long term project but things that are worth doing are never easy!!

There are only so many hours in a day, and only a few in the school day.
The current curriculum is already about to go into meltdown with all the government initiatives.... The problem is that all politicians think they are educational experts because they have been to school.

Why overload the teachers with more work.... first they would have to train the teachers to teach these subjects......

Parents should take responsibility for their children.
Children should be taught , by their parents , to take responsibility for their actions.

Faith schools often use meditative prayer time, this is very beneficial on many levels.

In a perfect world that may work. But unfortunately, this isn't and the majority of school systems would feel that these practices are too far removed from their curriculum.
Schools are having trouble budgeting for PE classes and music. Even some districts are finding it difficult to fund books.
If you were to present this idea, You would have to also show statistically where it has been accomplished with what you propose. If you could provide some areas where the funds would come from, that would be a great help also.
Good luck in you endeavor.

I think it could do wonders, along with a good balanced breakfast which schools can make availabe through breakfast clubs. I work in a school in a deprived area where children rebel against education and authority. I think meditation and yoga could help because it focuses the mind, gently exercises the body and could open the little darling's minds more towards learning. You get my vote!

I am sorry to say, but I think it is a bad idea. Primary school children are too young for all that. Doesn't yoga involve stretching limbs and placing them in weird places? That's bad for children at that age, as eventually, because their bodies are not fully developed, you will prevent important bone growth.

I approve - though, I suspect that to incorporate these, along with everything else, at the rate things are going, 'School Days' will be about 12 - 15 hours long. As a result, it might be better to turn all school into 'Boarding' schools......

Mmmm, might not be a bad idea.

Sash.

Great idea but the church vs state folks would probably shut you down. I have heard of some teachers calling meditation something else, like "quiet time," or something, and getting away with it, and getting great results, by the way.

I am with you with this. A matter of fact that I am going to yoga classes since my 2nd grade and now I am in XII. I didn't had yoga or gymnastics in my school, neither I have in my college, but I attend private classes.

There is so much that schools have to do these days from social issues to religion masquerading as science. I think some things need not to be done at school.

I think you're right, it will probably help them...however, that's gonna be a tough one, to convince the higher ups that it might help. Good luck, you've got my vote....you may have to do something like this in your own time and cost free until there's a study to prove that it's working, like I said, good luck...
