Is womb envy, the supposed opposite to penis envy, a serious theory? I can see why they would be jealous. Maybe they feel they won't have that special bond to the child, like the mother does......

I for one seen what my wife went through with the birth of both our children. No thanks! You have my special respect for doing so. I think that some men are insecure in their relationships with their children. To me being a dad is equal to being a mom. It is different and we each have important roles in our childrens lifes. I love being a dad it is the important thing I will ever do in my life.

Well few people regard penis envy as a serious theory either. I think Freud had some psychological issues when he developed some of his theories.

There is no "penis envy" — Freud made a big
mistake... To be a man is the most exciting thing
that can happen to someone, because some girls
are so great, so sexy, so sweet and that smooth
(as silk)... So no man is really
"jealous" because he is
no woman. He likes AND
enjoys to be a
MAN... his girl enjoys too...

The child shares half of it's chromosomes with the father. That is usually enough for most men, although I think that a few femanine men may feel otherwise, I'm not really sure.

I thank god everyday that I can't get pregnant, that would suck. I do not belive that womb envy is a viable theory.

I have known enough pregnant women to know one thing for certain.

If men gave birth, the human race would have ended with the first generation.

Morning sickness, labor pains. Not me, not even for all the tea in China

Nope, I am jealous because I don't have a vagina to play with all my own. I would not want to get pregnant, but wow ould I have some fun if I had one of those.

I think men are about as jealous of women giving birth, as women are jealous of men having prostate exams and colonoscopies.
