What is the best college essay topic for a person who just came to the US from Asia two years ago and has to live with her distance relavtives? This essay needs to tell the admission officer about my personality and how this applicant is different from other applicants?

You already have an unusual story, use it. You have to have personality traits that allowed you to come to the US, tell about leaving your home, living in a new country, embracing a new culture, learning a new language and living with virtual strangers. All of that will set you apart from other applicants. Use words like adventurous, outgoing, and achievement. Try to stay positive. It is okay to say that you miss home, but try to add a very positive spin on everything.

I would approach the essay as a comparison of both cultures while telling the story of your transition.
No matter what you write about, keep it light hearted and inspired and proof read your paper!

talk about how much you want this education and go over the steps you've accomplished to achieve this. Also tell them what you plan to do in college and the grades you plan to get as well as the job you intend on landing when you are done. Sell yourself!!!
