I rarely print to my Epson Stylus C86. When I do print it is as if the ink in the cartridge has started to dry up. Is there a way to keep the ink from drying in the cartridge for an infrequently used printer? Or is the issue more related to cleaning the print head?

The print head drys not the Cartridge. The print head is integrated into your printer so you will probably want to use the printer a little more frequently to prevent this. Run a single print head cleaning every 2-3 weeks as a preventative measure.

That is common problem when you don't use your ink jet printer very often. I would run a test page before you print out what you want to print if you haven't run the printer in a while.

You can at the very least print a test page every other day, to keep the ink circulating in the tank.
