That's a great start that you've talked with your birth mother over the phone. Have you discussed your feelings with your adoptive parents as well? I suggest you talk it over with them, your friends, and other supportive adults (such as family members, family friends, or school counsellors).

Then invite her to a group event that you will be at, such as a school play, a sports event, a movie, or something similar. If it's at something you enjoy, you will be more relaxed, and you can also use it as an opportunity to share what you like to do with her. Keep it in a public setting to help prevent things from becoming too personal or uncomfortable too quickly, and if you pick an event then you have a built-in timer in case you feel you need to escape after a certain amount of time. If you're enjoying yourself, you can always find something else to do afterwards (with the permission of your adoptive parents and guardians), or you can make plans to meet again another time.

Good luck!

first keep that friend ship relationship with your mom going. dont jumb too fast that may hurt you and her down the road. call her just see how she doing? how's her day? etc...... i've been in the same situation before but turned out i dont talk to my father anymore because we didn't have that friend ship relationship from the begining, he left when i was 4 so that's how it went down, but for you i suggest you should take time and take it easy on it you guy can visit each other when you have time tell her about your good life and bad time see how she react to it!!!! most important of all always never forget where you coming from....good luck

go to dinner or something. I went to meet my father for the 1st time over lunch when i was 27. It went very well and like we knew each other for years. You can have a relationship with her without het being your mom. After awhile he tried to be my DAD. but sorry i already have one. it is always good to get to know them. also make sure you ask question about any health problems on here side of the family. good luck

Say exactly what you just wrote here to your mother. Just be honest about how you feel and what you need. After that Your Mother can make the choice and take the next step. Sometimes people don't do what we want...simply because they arent sure what that is. Speak to her. Tell her how you feel and what you would like to have in your relationship.

I think you should start talking to her at least 1 a day.Don't be afraid to ask questions. Then when you get to know her better ask if you could come over. And if she says no ask why,if she dosen't have a reason then she is not worth it!
