my pc runs so slow yet my hard drive is only 25% full! why???

Go to Start Menu, click RUN.
Type msconfig and hit enter.
You should see a pop up box.
Go to Startup tab and uncheck all the programs that you do not want on your start up.
This will prevent those programs from starting up when you restart windows.
This will usually make your computer go a little faster if you have do not have much memory on your computer.
You do not want a bunch of things running in your background during startup if it is not necessary.

There could be several reason why it is running slowly the first and most common problem is that ur drive is fragmented. this happens whenever u open and close programsor install new ones. think of it of taking a book offf a book shelf but when u put it back u put it in a different spot than where u got it . u can stiil find the book its still in the shelf.now take that and multiply it by 10 or 100 and u have a framented drive. whenur computer goes to open the file again it must use more memory than it would normally use to get through all the mixed up files. u should defrag at least 2 a month
another reason could be that ur memory has alower than average mhz speed. Ie pc100 is 266 mhz wheras pc2700 the more common form now has 400mhz significanly higher speed. it is better to get memory that can fully take advange of wht ur motherboard can handle which depend on what manufacturer the board is and how old ur . computer is
another reason could be a virus,i like to run a full system scan evertime i defrag for consistency. i also use norton anti virus norton firewall in addition to service pack 2 firewall. Kaspersy antivirus is also another good anti virus program.
