I have a filter for the tank but I was wondering if extra equipment to generate a stronger current is needed.

I'm not sure if the first answerer knew what you were referring to -- a sponge filter should be fine as far as filtration and current is involved. Granted, both danios and white cloud mountain minnows prefer a bit more current, but the movement from the bubbles generated by the sponge filter should be enough.

If you have the opportunity later, go for an "over-the-back" filter -- this will create a bit more current and take care of things nicely. Undergravel filters (as you may know) are not the easiest things to work with -- they do work, but they aren't nearly as useful as sponge filters and over-the-back filters.

Hope it helps!

Those fish need aeration, filtration, and food. Get an undergravel filter with an air pump combination. They are inexpensive. Without air bubbles they will suffocate, and without filtration the ammonia will get too high and they'll die.
