nobody does anymore as he died from a heart attack in the programme, but the person who used to act him was John Savident, and little did we know but......
The 70-year-old veteran actor who plays undertaker Archie Shuttleworth, was taken ill with a suspected heart attack as he leaned over the coffin of butcher Fred Elliott whilst filming the funeral scene of the soap.
John Savident, 68, who plays Fred, immediately jumped from the coffin to help Roy as he fell down clutching his chest.
A Street source said: "They were filming scenes in the chapel of rest when Roy fell ill.
"John Savident rose from the coffin to help him as they waited for an ambulance."
