It is impossible for a "lay" person to gender a fish. It would be assumed though that with having 6 goldfish that you do have males and females. I never had any of my goldfish breed when I had them as a child. The one fish that I know you will be able to get little fishies from would be guppies. You just have to be very vigalent because you will need to remove them as soon as they are born because the mother and father will try to eat them.

As you have six goldfish, then you most likely have both sexes. They do not readily breed in an aquarium setup as they are influenced by the changing seasons, but it can happen. When they are ready to spawn the males will produce little raised, white spots on the gill covers. These are called breeding tubercles. They are most likely to appear after the winter when spring is coming so look out for them!

Hopefully your tank is at least 60 gallons for that many goldfish, otherwise they probably wont even live long enough to mate.

The way I tell the sexes is by their anal opening. Girls usually have outies and males have innies. And once they are old enough and ready the males will have breeding tubercles on their gill plates and the front ray of their pectoral fins.

honestly it is next to impossible to tell the difference in boy and girl goldfish. But with 6 fish you probably have at least one of each. If the fish are happy and all the conditions are right they will breed. Breeding fish is a sign that they are happy and healthy, good luck.

Here's a good article on sexing goldfish
http://thegab.org/Articles/SexingGoldfish.html

Male goldies typically get breeding stars on their gill covers and do the chasing and bumping when they're mating. Females may have rounder bellies, especially when they're full of eggs.

Typically an in aquarium they will spawn, but will eat the eggs.

When they do spawn, you need to check water quality because spawning releases a lot of protein that can cause ammonia to get too high. Typically you'll want to do a partial water change after they spawn. Also, keep an eye on them because spawning can be rough on the fish.

My way of telling the difference is that the females anal fin is more rounded than the male,
the males anal fin is usually kept in a folded type of manner,

don't worry its unlikely they will breed as they have to have precise conditions to breed & therefore probably won't
