Hi guys, I need to buy a laptop within a week. Please help me decide on to something. I'm not sure of which brand to buy in terms of reliablity and after sales support. My prime requirements are excellent graphics capablities (preferably an graphics card - 128 mb), 1GB RAM, Intel dual core processor (2.0 GHz), 15' wide screen display, 60 GB HDD, multiple-card reader, bluetooth and WiFi capablity, DVD-ROM (don't need a DVD writer). My budget can go upto 70K.

With 70k available I'd suggest starting with Lenovo and seeing what they have. HP would be my next choice. Apart from the graphics card and the 1 GB RAM - the rest are pretty much standard fare nowadays. Not sure about the graphics card or PCI Express as the case may be.

Hi Raj,
As per your question, you are basically looking for
128 MB Video Card
1 GB DDR2 Ram
2.0 Dual Core
15' Wide Display
60 GB HD
and i would blindly suggest you to go for Dell as i've tried Lenovo, their service is just a piece of Crap. Dell is Awesome. As per your budget I would strongly recommend you to buy LatitudeTM D820 or LatitudeTM D520.

One of the most importants factors to consider in buying a laptop is to check the battery life; you certainly don't want to end up with 2 hours battery life but much more like 4 or 6.

The Acer Ferrari 3400 seems to be
the current Sun Engineer laptop of choice, so that is the one
that's at the top of my list.

Go for an Apple MacBook. I'm very pleased with mine. Switching to Mac OS X wasn't hard at all. Plus, it comes bundled with tons of software.

Raj it seems you have enough budget.
Go for HP, Lenovo, Toshiba, Dell sells online only so not a problem checking out the details...
Go to a shop.. check out which one looks sleek.. what works out for you and what you like/ dont like..

Laptops are very very very expensive in India after all the taxes.
You should come to Malaysia and buy it from here. A return trip doesnt cost much, and laptops are much cheaper(much much).
