I have a girlfriend whom I've known for several years. At the time we met we shared similar life situations which is why I feel we were comfortable with each other's company. However, over the past year I feel that I have grown personally and that she has still many things to work on about herself, which has left me feeling that we have very little in common. I am currently building a new circle of friends (as is she) and I feel it's time to move on but I don't know how to do that gracefully. Any ideas?

Just be honest and tell her how you feel she will either get over it or not...Maybe she feels the same way and wants to break it off with you as well .... Life is too short to let things hold you down just tell her. If its too difficult for you then text her...:)

Best way is to stop calling her, stop taking her calls, and begin to call her back progressively less. If that doesn't work in the next month or two, just send her a nice email. DO YOUR BEST TO NOT BURN BRIDGES. You never know when you might bump into her again.
As long as you still don't see each other regularly at school, work, recreational activities, etc, you shouldn't have aproblem doing it this way.

well if you don't see each other much anymore i guess she moved on also and probably feel the same! if she calls you just explain to her that you feel that you don't have anything in common anymore.(be honest) honesty is always the best policy. if it happens you see each other say hi and leave it at that

hmmm... i probably just tell the person i dont wanna be friends with them anymore because then you'll not only lose a friend but gain an enemy to. but what i tihkn you should do is just avoid her or drop subtle hints so she gets the picture without being embarrased

I don't think this called true friendship..Anyway, stop calling and talking... and if she called, tell her the truth..don't let her just call and you don't like that..she's part of this relation, she must know.

just fade ehr out, talk to her less and less, dotn ask he to hang out with your group of friends, dont invite her over just let ehr hang with ehr new friends adn soon enough she will be having so much fun with them(as will you with your new friends) that you wont notice each other anymore
