Some students leave if the professor is just five minutes late, and I always thought the norm was 15, just wondering.

I recently experienced this in a Theology class. The professor eventually showed up and told us that there is a 15 minute rule. He has his Phd. so I would take his word for it.

You should wait until the class time is over. Don't you have your books? Study! Unless it is a three hour + seminar class, do not leave.

If a professor is not able to come, he will call a secretary or someone will leave a note on the board or door. Otherwise, you should expect him to show up at any minute!

For a professor that doesn't have a Doctorate then it is 10 minutes. 15 minutes for a professor that has a Doctorate

Dude, I think this is different according to the school. Where I got my Bachelor's, someone from the class had to go tell the dean of the department that the teacher wasn't there before the class could leave. Then in my grad school they went by the "20 minute rule". So it's different all over

I say giving the instructor quarter-hour is approximately appropriate while you're finding at it as being polite. besides the indisputable fact that, the instructor is assume to an occasion so its truly no longer plolite for he/she to be late daily. i'm able to work out each and every now and back, yet no longer daily. all of us have lives and each so often issues ensue, yet they are there to set an occasion and admittedly after the 2nd or 0.33 time, i could pass away the 2nd I comprehend they are not there.

I would say 15 minutes, but you're the one paying for college, so you can decide when you want to leave.
