Yes I was wondering can anybody tell me what the effects would be if you gave beer directly to a 7 month y/o newborn who was 2 months premature?

I'm not talking about the mother drinking and then breast feeding. I'm talking about the mother putting the can of beer to the infants mouth and letting the infant drink a couple swallows of beer.

I don't know what effects beer could have on a newborn at 7 months who was 2 months premature. I'm afraid that it could cause a lot of damage. Can anybody show me what the effects could/would be and give websites that talk about this.

Only serious answer please.

I am reading a book on how babies' brains develop. Giving a baby alcohol will interfere with their neural developement, can turn them into alcoholics, is illegal and considered child abuse. The premature newborn has enough to compensate for by not being in the womb for those extra 2 months. Giving them alcohol can further mess with their intelligence and development.

You shouldnt give alcohol to children, their bodies cannot absorb and expell the toxins like and adults can.

That said, letting an infant take a couple swigs from a can probably will not result in any long term problems. Its poor parenting and crappy practice, but children survive worse.

If its something that you see often, you should report it to the proper authorities.

You should contact childrens services as giving alcohol to children is very serious and in many ways your child could already be predisposed to problems that alcohol could make worse.

A 7 month old shouldn't have any beer so I don't understand why you need to know this.

I'm hoping that one of the effects is the parent going to jail. Why are you asking this question??

If this is a true story-- poor baby:(

I don't know. But whoeva did that I would call CPS on them. Obviously they arent fit to raise a child because no saine person would do something like that. All these people who cant have kids and look how people who do have kids treat them.

It can cause brain damage, I suggest you call social services on your girlfriend right away unless you want a child who is developmentally delayed. I'm curiouse to know why she is doing this?

Jail!!! That is illegal. It could also be deadly. It takes much less alcohol for an infant to die of alcohol poisoning than an adult!

Depending on the state and the damage caused to the infant.
one year to life imprisonment.
