Be honest.......are you getting taken advantage of? Has it been
awhile since you got a raise? Is there honestly any reasonable
chance of advancement where you work, or are you just marking time?
And, most important, if you are getting totally abused by your employer, who is it you work for? Don't worry, Big Brother isn't watching you!

anne marie, congratulations!
You will feel whole again when you leave.
Screw them!
Like I said, you have to look out for yourself,
and women doubly so as they get taken advantage of way more than men...look
at all the hardworking women at Wal-Mart
with nothing to show for it for evidence of that

I've been at a position for 8 months as a
"permatemp". I was told it was a temp-to-hire position. Now, after 8 months, they say it may be eliminated, which in corporate speak you know means they ARE going to eliminate it......thats what they do, dangle baubles in front of you just close enough to keep those legs moving 240 on that stationary treadmill

I could tell you stories about the company that I worked for that you would not believe. People would call me a liar to my face until they saw it happen too.

There are not too many people that can say they honestly look forward to going to work every day. It's sad, because that is where you spend most of your time. Anyone that works for anyone else will agree with this: You don't make what you are worth. You are not appreciated. You don't get enough raises. You are taken advantage of daily. You don't get enough vacation time. Am I right??!!

Here is the saddest part of all. One of the happiest days of my life was when my doctor said to me, "we need to think about total long term disability for you. You can't make it much longer."
I had been on the same management job for 25 years for the same company. I left with no regrets. I was glad I didn't have to wait for retirement at 62 or 65. I am 60. They don't have enough money to make me go back there. I could have stayed on part time and I rejected it.

We get a decent raise every year, based upon job performance, usually 3 - 6%. We also get a yearly bonus. I have been promoted many times in my 13 years. I have worked my way up from a data entry operator to a web developer. I have gone from making $13,500 to making $50,000+ a year for just 40 hours a week, no overtime required, and that is without a college degree. I have a pension plan, a retirement medical account to help pay for medical expenses when I retire, which my employer contributes to, not me, and my employer also matches up to 6% on a 401K plan. My health insurance (medical, dental, vision and rx drug), disability insurance and life insurance (5x my yearly salary) is almost entirely paid for by my employer also.

I had a manager that hated me and he did his best to get me kicked out of the company. I found it was because he thought my hair was too long. He kept trying to transfer me to different dept, different supervisors, even lied to HR that he had promised me a bonus, then reneged on it. Guess who's side HR took??? Company was bought out by a European company and last I heard is ceasing operations within a year or two.
