You should have FUN! You didn't mention what age but games appropriate for who will be there. And there are a ton of magazines out right now with that kind of thing in them. A good one is the Better Homes and Garden Halloween issue. It gives good food ideas, too. Cheap fun prizes for everything you do is cool. $5 GC to Mickey D's or a 12 pack of pop or other things that both boys/men and girls/women would like.

Cider is a good Halloween treat and doughnuts and caramel apples OR a bowl of a variety of apples cut up and a container of caramel dip. Candy corn and salted peanuts mixed together is yummy. Whatever you serve name it with spooky names like powdered doughnuts could be ghosty rings or something silly like that. Sloppy Joes are always easy to fix ahead and serve all night from a crock pot. Get some of that Palmer chocolate variety that has chocolate wrapped like eye-balls.

Get wax fangs and teeth and have a karoake contest while wearing them.

Scary movies inthe background. Johnny Depps "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is good!'

You could do a scavenger hunt in the neighborhood. Even adults like that. Or a trick or treat for non candy food contest. We did that once. You give each couple or group a list of what they have to trick or treat for and they can only get one item per house they stop at and had to put the house number on their list. We did all non perishable food and dontated it to the local shelter afterwards. Obviously it had to be non opened food.

If you have a ton of leaves that need raking up you could have a leaf raking contest with teams that each get a part of the yard. Time the teams if you don't have a lot of rakes and even have them bag your leaves up.

Pinata's are fun.

Pin the hat on the witch.

Have a prize, or more than one prize if you do categories, for best costume(s)

A bon fire if the weather and where you live permits it making sure to have a good barrier to keep flowing costumes out of the fire..

Music with dancing to Halloween music as well as what you like. Monster Mash and such.

Pumpkin carving contest. Set a time limit and have all the pumpkins about the same size.

I probably have a ton more ideas but I have to stop now. Hope it helps and have fun!

Depends on your theme. I'm going to a pirate themed one, plan on having plenty of rum drinks.

Maybe a costume or anything that you fell like wearing, or maybe no costume and regular clothes. I would do that.
