On PC Pentium 4 w/ 3.8 GHz vs iMac, Which one starts faster & opens faster? Which one loads Web pages faster?

Yes, no and maybe. How fast a PC (or Mac) loads is affected by how much memory is in it, how many drivers and other thing it is opening in the background, how much free space is on the hard drive, whether it has any viruses or spyware running on it, etc. Internet speed is usually determined more by the speed of your connection then the speed of your PC. All PCs are faster then the Internet connection, so it speed of the PC is unimportant. The amount of memory and hard drive space may affect Internet speed. So there is no real answer to your question based on processor alone.

Mac OS X has ALWAYS started faster than Windows XP and always will. Safari is a VERY fast browser. It's much better than Internet Explorer. Of course, everything Apple makes is much better than Microsoft.

well it also depends on other conditions, such as ram, hard drive type, if it has the updates.
and how many programs are running in the background
but i would say the p4 machine would win hands down.
