I would say that the vast majority of workers are getting ripped off in some respect, whether the time demanded
(at my place 70 hour weeks are sadly common), or pay, constant supervision,
etc...
All leads up to the fact that its best to work for yourself if at all possible....so sad to have to depend on the good graces of a higher-up to decide your worth.
Better to make 50K calling your own shots than 100K with your nose embedded up the supervisors a s s...

ahh, sweet freedom for the working man...

My answer to the "free hand" of capitalism, which is what the "even" playing field comments are refering to, is this:

OUTSOURCING

That, my friends, is what the "free hand"
of employers is doing, not even-handedly
"bargaining" with employees for benefits.
If companies were inclined to be evenhanded, thay wouldn't have destroyed
the unions and outsourced everything that wasn't nailed down.

girlwho, looking out for yourself isn't whining, its just being smart and surviving.
WHining may be what your emplyer calls it, and people who identify with their emplyer like dogs and their masters........

The company I work for is very honest. They treat me very well, pay me very well, and keep me happy.

Rip off. How else can a company stay afloat and make profit if they aren't making some money somewhere and the greatest asset is it's people and it's the most gullable and easy asset to negotiate on.

Interestingly, every individual has a different salary regardless of how similar their roles may be with each other. I'm not talking the hourly jobs because there the salaries are pretty much fixed. I'm talking about the middle 9-5 ers who are on a yearly salary.

All companies are "fair" if you are in a free trade situation. If a company takes advantage of you and you "can't" leave, it's because you choose not to leave - whether it's salary, health benefits, etc. Anyone who whines that they "can't" get another job just doesn't want the hassle or a longer commute, or whatever the barrier is.

I work for a big retail company in the midwest. I think my company is very fair and I love my job. I am way less than thrilled with our union, however.

Employment is 100% voluntary therefore no company could ever rip any one off for very long...Unless they're a 'tard and stay.
