Everyone seems to head to Florida.
I prefer San Francisco and the northern California area in December.
Especially since the Golden Gate bridge gets more fog that time of year...and to watch the sun set, while sitting on the Headlands (north side of the GG) is fan-tas-tic!
The weather along the coast is cool (upper 50's) at night and mild (low 70's) in the day.
Tour the vineyards in Sonoma, Napa or Russian River.
Go to the redwood forest.
Or, just hang out in the Bay area.
Of course, if I could afford to live there, I would.
But for short visits, there are plenty of LOW cost, nice hotels, tons of excellent restaurants and many unique sites to share with your husband.
Whatever your choices, hope you all have a safe trip!

It all depends on your taste and your budget.
Theres a ton of places that are worth the money whether its a beach or a mountain.
Now for something a little exotic check out this picture of a slice of heaven in Tahiti (see link below)

Depends on what you like. If you like beaches, I'd go for Florida, Tampa/ St. Pete's maybe. If you like mountians or desert, I'd go for Phoenix, or Death Vally Nat. Park in CA. A nice overall place, with lots to do and see is San Diego, they have beaches, nightlife, tourist attractions, theme parks not too far away. If you like Skiing, or snowy areas, there are some gorgous area's in Utah to visit. You have to decide what type of vacation you are going for, then you can narrow down destinations.

Maui, Hawaii. I recommend staying at the Westin Resort and Spa. The website is www.westinmaui.com
It is georgeous. You can find touristy things to do or just stay in. Hotel is great. Awesome service, pool, bars, restaurants, room. We went in April and had wonderful time. We went on a dinner cruise and it was extremely relaxing. You can book packages for outings at cheaper prices than booking separate. We went on the dinner cruise and luau for less cause we booked in a package.
There are many educational things on the island as well. Where ever you go, have a great time!!!

The Southwest, particularly Arizona is really nice in Dec. Lots of natural beauty, native american and hispanic culture. Southern Utah also. Lots to see between St. George Utah and down to Tucson. Mining, mountains, deserts, history.

Skip the mainland and head out to Iraq where you can have adventurous evenings, explosive shows, uncertain transportation and find a luxury vacation home for under $100.
