First of all, sweetheart, ALL GIRLS AND WOMEN READ COMIC BOOKS!!!!!
I know this for a fact because I have been purchasing, reading, and collecting comic books since I was a few months old.
As a woman, I can tell you that the comic books I love and read are:
SPIDER-MAN
FANTASTIC FOUR
X-MEN
CATWOMAN
WONDER WOMAN
SUPERGIRL
LEGIONNAIRES
BATGIRL
ELEKTRA
KITTY PRIDE
SPIDER-GIRL
MARY JANE
FELICIA HARDY: THE BLACK CAT
SUPERNATURALS
SPIDER-WOMAN
INCREDIBLE HULK
SHE-HULK
WOLVERINE
WONDER GIRL
and many others of DC & Marvel Comics.
To create female superheroes, you need to purchase comic books of female superheroes from the following websites:
1. http://www.newkadia.com/NK.php
2. http://www.milehighcomics.com
3. http://www.mycomicshop.com
After you have done that, you can get a full grasp idea of creating your very own comic books filled with sexy, strong, smart female superheroes. ALL GIRLS AND WOMEN need healthy, positive female role models, and comic books with their favorite female superheroes is exactly what ALL FEMALES need in the world of men.
That is why I call myself "The Real-Life Felicia Hardy a.k.a. The Black Cat!!!!!"

I don't know about women wanting to read about women. I like male superheroes. It's a spandex thing. In fact, there isn't a single female superhero in my entire collection.
My favorite comic is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I've loved them since I was a little prepubescent girl. Technically, they're naked.

Women do read comic books!!! I love X-Men and Spider-man because they have real problems. I like Batman because of the dark side of the characters. It is also important to have intelligent, independent female superheroes. Hate Superman though. He's too powerful and boring.

Of course! I love reading comic books, in fact I'm writing my own right now. So of course I would marry a guy who read comic books!! I would prefer my husband to read comic books actually:) So we can make collections together, and he can give me feedback on my own.

Dear girls who don't think women read comics: you need look no further. And I'm not a mutant. So please stop acting like no girls read comics because that's not true :) I think if you really want to see an example of a smart, powerful female hero/villain, Catwoman is the ultimate example. She's absolutely independent and does her own thing, which is why she is not classified either way.

Maybe women like Romance Comics with maybe some action in there to balance it out and a teaspoon of adventure.

As a reader, I like my heroines to be strong, and not willing to take too much crap. A sense of humor is essential. I also hate it when they fall for the wrong guy. I'm not a big fan of the super skimpy outfits and big boobs, but I can overlook that if the story is good enough. For references, here are some of my favorites:
She Hulk
Rogue
Jubilee
the chick from Witchblade (sorry, can't remember her name)
Spider Girl
Manga heroines-- Mizuki, of Hana Kimi, Ai, of Ai Yori Aoshi
Hope that helps!
(Oh, and don't make her a man hater. Please.)

really, women dont read comic books.... u'll never find a female "comic superhero" who isnt exaggerated w big chests and small waists, long flowing hair, skin tight clothing w protruding nipples, pouty red lips.... please, all men think along the same lines, no self respecting woman would pick up a comic book........ what do women want? NO COMIC BOOKS!

This is not an answer, I was only reading the answers to see what the ladies had to say. however, I must point out one mistake: Angelina thinks that the TMNT's are naked. No, they are not. They are wearing masks! Just because they're not wearing any clothes around their loins doesn't make them naked!
