The other day my boyfriend said he was feeling broody, I thought uh oh, bloody hell. Then a minute later he said that he can't imagine ever being settled down enough to have a baby! So I thought, right so does that mean we're not going anywhere? What does this mean?

he probably sensed you being uncomfortable at his broodish behaviour, so he told you something he thought you wanted to hear & you've taken it the wrong way. I only said probably though.

Arghhhhhhhh is right. Im some what in the same position as your in. I want children and my boyfriend dosnt. I think its just he cant handle the responsiblity or dosnt want the responsiblity. Having a child means he will have to settle down. How long have you been with him. If it hasnt been that long his feelings may change later down the road. If you really want to know if your relationship is going any where ask him. sit down and just say where are we going? and ask him what he wants out of the relationship. He may not give you the answers your looking for but at least youll know.

Sweetie, why the hell are you reading anything into what a man says...... basically all men know that they will have to grow up in order to father a child, many cannot accept that they will no longer be the baby in the relationship, you man simply realised this, that's all.

Like I said, I always think its better not to attempt to read a man.

By the sound of things he was tring to get a reaction as to how YOU feel, so why don't you bring up the question of a family, and see what happens, if he freaks then either your both just to young at the moment or you should consider the possibilty that your not right for each other.

Ask him where he sees the relationship going. Ask him if he ever wants kids and if so, at what age. Ask him if he plans to get married, and married to you. Ask him when he thinks is a good age to get married. If he's serious about not wanting a baby, you should listen. If you can't ask him direct, honest questions, then the relationship probably isn't too serious at this point.

He's a guy - he says the first thing that comes into his head - and generally it doesnt make sense to him so no point even trying to figure out what he's thinking.

Ask him straight if he thinks the relationship is going anywhere.

You won't know unless you ask him. Maybe he was saying it because he wanted to see your reaction. Maybe he really means it. You won't know unless you ask him what his future intentions are. If he says, "I don't know" don't sweat that either....maybe he doesn't know right now.
