In most e-mail programs, word processors, and most html editors (gui), the xyxy@someplace.com fortmat of an e-mail address triggers the program to make this a hypertext link.

It will automatically underline for you and when someone clicks this link, it will open an e-mail addressed to them.

well depends on what application your talking about, if its in something like office(word) when u type in the email address it will show in blue but not underlined to change it so that u can make it underlined u would need to highlight it right click remove the html tags and then highlight again and do ctrl+u
this will make it show with under line.

No. The only reason underlines appear under e-mail address on many web pages is to alert you that it is an active link.

It depends on your mail client. Generally 'underlining' and address means you have tabbed off or moved away from the address field and your software 'recognizes' the email address, either from your address book (Outlook) or simply just recognizes that it is indeed a valid address format (ie. something@something.com)

Your question is not specific enough. It depends entirely on what software you're using.
