Long story short, I dated a girl for 3 years on and off. She has a son who, for the past 3 years (half of his life!) I have been taking care of. She never worked, never helped with rent, and drank constantly. When we were broken up and she found somewhere to live on her own and her son was not properly taken care of. Several months ago she went to jail for awhile and the son went to live with a grandma. When she got out she had nowhere to live so I took her in like an idiot. After being out for a month she went right back in with a 6 month sentence for violation of probation. She told me the grandma could not keep the son and asked if I would take care of him until she got out. So that's what I have been doing and doing an amazing job...suprising myself! So Mom is getting out in 1 month. She cannot live with me as she is planning, but if I tell her this I know her son will not be in good hands. I want what is best for her son and for me...and she is not it for either of us!

The dating his mom deal was a one-time thing. While I support homosexualtiy and gay rights...I am interested in meeting a good man, settling, down, etc. I take the child to sunday school, provide him with everything he needs, make good $ and provide a good home for the boy...which he's just going to have taken away from him if he goes back to living with her. I know I have no rights. Should I just take her in, too? I don't see that working for me or teaching her any kind of responsibility...I believe that would just enable her to continue to be a low-life.

I would recommend getting a lawyer and attempting to legally adopt her son. She is not a fit mother, from what you are saying, and you may have a case. All you have to do is prove that she is an unfit mother, and that the boy is doing well with you, and you should be able to win - she's a convict - so you have one up on her now as it is.

Good luck!

There's not really much that you can do. Especially being a lesbian- the courts, unfortunately, will frown upon giving you any kind of custody or guardianship. Talk to her about seeing a counselor when she gets out- pay for the counseling if you have to and go as a group- you, her, and the boy. Maybe, if nothing else, this will help her realize the importance of her son maintaining a relationship with you, which will give you the added benefit of being able to keep tabs on how he's being cared for. Good Luck!

I would notify CHILD SERVICES in your state. NJ has DYFUS, PA has PACFS. Call the police and ask them for the name and number of the correct agency and do it BEFORE this sociopathic idiot mama charges YOU with kidnapping oir unlawful endangerment of a minor, or child molestation. Let the city handle it. Dont be a fool.
