I have a 1999 ford windstar with 45,000 mi and have had a couple of problems recently and have heard alot of bad things about the cars in general? Anyone have any good experiences with the car?

You should check with any possible recalls that the van may have had. This is all public info and should be very easy to find with a Google search. Typically, if your vehicle is covered under the recall, any repairs or corrections made will be free of charge. Also, you can check with Consumer Reports and see what they say.
You may also want to consult with this mother who recently asked about 1999 Windstars here on Answers as well, maybe give her a heads up....
