Why should I buy Guild Wars Factions for the PC? I played the first game and thought it was pretty decent, but is it worth buying its successor? If I'm not particularly interested in PvP battles, is it worth it? How many extra missions, etc are there, and how good is the storyline compared to the first Guild Wars? Are the new classes any good?

At the end of the day, the decision to buy or not is down to you.
Working on the premise of no monthly fees though it does sweeten the blow of having to pay out the cash for this expansion.
The storyline is decent enough and opens up new skills, elites and items for your characters, plus gives you 2 extra character slots.
Doing litle PvP myself, I found the PvP within the storyline entertaining and spent a fews hours purely re-running that battle alone. The foreign/Local quater mission is also fun as it enables two teams of eight to join together to complete the mission.
Have dabbled with both the assassin and ritualist classes and found them to be workable both for solo and group play.
Actual number of missions, not sure, certainly enough to keep you occupied for many hours tho. Main GW site probably give you the total mission count if you take a look.
Personally if it was a choice between buying Factions or Nightfall (with Nightfall being released at end of this month), having played the preview, I think I would pre-order nightfall to get the bonus items extra char slot.)
Then go back and purchase factions.

The new Guild Wars Factions is ont as good as Prophecies. The new charecters are okay. But you will definitally want to save your money and just buy Nightfall when it comes out.

Why don't you see a review on g4tv and or gametrailers.com, they rate the game and you will see the new visuals.
