The difference is that Pakistan is not a country that has shut itself off from the world. Pakistan is involved with the worldwide community, and whilst we may not always like their way of doing things they are integrated politically and economically with the Western world. This is something that N.Korea has refused to do, they insist on following their own theological agenda. Even their close ally and neighbour China has become frustrated with their intransigence.
Besides which it was not a question of trusting them with nuclear technology, Pakistan, much like N.Korea and Iran developed their nuclear capability by themselves and with great secrecy.
Pakistan has shown great evidence of responsible actions and wants to improve this in the future, whilst N.Korea by contrast has given nothing and shows no sign of doing so, nor of wanting to.
This is why I would be more worried, if even China is in despair then there is a real concern for us all.

I wasn't aware that the world community did trust Pakistan having nuclear weapons. From the looks of things, no one should trust them having nuclear weapons. They are a breeding ground for terrorists.
