Unfortunately there aren't many of us left. I was raised the same way. If I lied to my parents my *** would be sore for a week. I learned real quick

I absolutely believe in telling the truth- this should not just be regarded as a matter of personal morality.

Here is an example in the workplace:

If you tell a lie to people to customers you work with they may find out the truth later on. This can then cause extra work either for you or your colleagues or other people, reduce the trust your customer has in you thus causing them to question future transactions, taking up more of your and their time.

People who do not have trust in you are less likely to go out of their way to help you out.

If you always tell the truth the people (which is, I repeat, a good thing) some or maybe even most people will think that you are slightly or very naive however they are unlikely to dislike you or find you forgettable. I would go as far as to say that meeting somebody who is completely honest is somewhat exciting, therefore sexy in a way.

Regarding the above point of, always being honest certainly does not mean that you are naive. Just because you are honest with someone does not mean that you assume that they are also an honest person too. In a way, the honest person gets the short straw in most relations with people but they have the long straw in terms of their personal peace of mind, which is a very comforting thing.

I too have been bought up to tell the truth and appreciate when people do. I think there are some honest people left but unfortunately the liars out there are overshadowing. I am still shocked at the people who can look me in the eye and tell a bare faced lie. it really is worrying

I was brought up not to tell a lie either and I still hold with that, I have told the odd white lie like everyone does but I go red and give myself away, I am hopeless at lying so no point doing it, I still think there are a lot of honest people about today, well unless their telling us lies that is.

Yep, I've often been told I am brutally honest. Maybe sometimes a little white lie is better than offending people.

A few but not many... I have wondered this myself it seem like anytime you start to trust someone they end up lying to you... people just don't seem to be honest anymore
