Or should i get a lower end 7600 or none at all. Prices will fall presumably with the release of the 8 series

Yes prices will fall a little with the release. While you won't absolutely HAVE to have a DirectX 10 card to play the first DirectX 10 games (they will have a DirectX 9 patch) if you are a serious gamer you will probably want to get a DirectX 10 card as soon as you can.

I have the 7600 GT KO.... and honestly... its a great card!!! The bus speed is sooo fast, this makes it faster than the majority of 512 mb cards.... because the bus speed is like twice as fast.

Dont' buy one now, cause with the release of windows vista everything will change.........DirectX10 will be shipped with it and the new games which run on DX10 wont' be able to run on ur graphic card cause their aint' any GPU(or graphic card) which supports DX10....so if u r not in a hurry----wait!
