I acquired these pictures from a thrift store I worked at because I am facinated by western art and culture. I do not know if these are placemats or pictures to be hung because they are laminated in a plastic that makes them look like a mat but too large for use as one. They are from the Far Eastern Hotels in Japan. If anyone can help me find more info on these items it would help me decide what to do with them. I have a picture of them if anyone wants to see them just send me a link. Thank you.

The pictures are on one side a japanese woman in a garden and on the other side exotic birds. Beautiful images but laminated in plastic used for a placemat. They look like they should be hung not eaten off of. The folder says Far Eastern, a hotel. If anyone can help identify what they are it would help grately.

Sounds like some stuff I saw at the Kyoto train station. Photos of gardens, temples, mountains etc?
But none of the Ryokan or restraints used any thing like a place mat in Japan.
Probably a wall hanging after you frame it??

Japanese Placemats

It sounds like these are Tourist Junk. The Japanese, as a rule, do not use placemats. You can get similiar Tourist Junk placemats showing the Grand Tetons in Wyoming and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. Good pictures, but no value.
