New grass is coming up from seeding and it is getting so long but with the rain and dampness we have waited. Mowed today on high setting. Did we cause any damage?

I have a lawn service, I cut wet grass all the time,it sucks but have no choice. I take it you have a 20-22- inch mower. You caused no damage just quicker growing grass. If you have a bagger i suggest you use it and cut your normal length. If you keep cutting high your only cutting the weakest part of the grass and will look funny and lay down. if mulching go slow!!!!

I have found with a sharp blade and by not forcing the gas lawnmower through the grass there is no real damage to the grass. I wouldn't do this with an electric mower though in case of a short.

Build up around the inside of the mower will have to cleaned periodically

Probably not. If you mashed down any of the shoots, they should be strong enough to pop back up. You may have clogged up under the mowing deck. The wet grass has a tendency to stick to sides rather than be thrown out the side. Turn the mower over on the side and wash out with a garden hose.

No damage, you can mow wet grass without worry, unless you clog the mower so bad you're ripping chunks out. Don't do that. :)

When you clean under the mower, make sure you tip it so the spark plug is at the top (the oil runs around, and will foul the plug other wise. Also, don't leave the mower tipped, just clean it and right it.

Yup - the weight of the mower will squish the grass and create a whole lot of mud.
