I'm just nosy, I'm 28 and earn £16500 plus commission working in media sales (Scotland). Just interested if the national average of £23kish is really accurate and how much is due to regional differences.

i guess i earn well above the national average then. I do have a mortgage , 2 kids , a wife (who has a horse) 2 cars and a bike to finance.Unless you have a degree though seriously i think good wages only come for the ordinary man by staying with a job and moving up when the chance allows.oh yes and i am just a steelworker who started out with no real education.

I earn about 2 million a year, but I don't get paid it! Likewise I know people that get paid £30-£40,000 a year and yet earn less than £5 of it.

In Southwest (Devon), most people I know would love your salary. We have the lowest wages and the highest living costs (including housing costs and house prices).

The National average takes account of the many (and I mean many), so called company managers who draw salaries well into six figures (with bonuses on top of that), yet keep giving themselves larger and larger rises for sacking more and more of their staff!

On average I would say you are doing OK for Scotland, move to bigger city for increase.

Not telling but its above average (Central Scotland too). I would say the figure of £23k is accurate. Sales is normally below average to encourage better sales on commision. Depends on the hours also. I do 35 hours per week including travel.

I'm 23 and earn 22k, about 24k after bonuses. Average maybe, but still not enough to live comfortably in London if you've got lots of student debts like me!

I'm a 22 year old media buyer. I make about $49,000. Currently in law school though so hopefully that figure will go up soon!

My Boyfriend (27yrs) is a Counter Balance and Reach Forklift Driver and he earns £28,000 p/a.
That's just his basic though, he gets more because of bonuses.
We live in Essex.
