usually you can mix them, the coolant just has a dye added to it to tell you when it needs to be changed, sod the manual, just MAKE SURE YOU DON'T OVERFILL IT, there will be a maximum fill level, indicated by the word max or just a line

The car manual should tell you which kind of coolant you need. Write it down and take it to your local auto parts shop and they should be able to give you the correct stuff. You can get stuff that you just put in or stuff that needs diluting. If it's the former you dilute it with water. Again the auto parts shop should be able to advise you. If you only need to add a little bit then water is ok but if you add too much water you risk it freezing during the winter.

Don't worry too much about not knowing stuff like this, I don't think my dad has ever checked his coolant level.

Ultimately you want the liquid in the radiator to be half coolant and half water. If you just want to top it off, mix it first in a separate container, then add the amount that you need. If you are flushing out the engine and want to replace the anti-freeze, it is more difficult to get the right mix. You need to find the capacity of your cooling system in the manual, add half that amount of anti-freeze, fill it the rest of the way with water, then top it off with the car running (cold start). This is because there is always some water left that you can't get out of the system.

adding water to where the coolant goes is fine but it also dilutes your antifreeze if you are having to add water or coolant then you may have a leak wich is in need of repair so have your vehicle checked out at about any part store will look for free if you know a mechanic take it to himm your car can freeze in the winter wich is coming soon you don't need weak coolant this time of year. good luck....

The water is the coolant. Pour in some antifreeze with it, even in summer (works exactly like all the other coolants).

50/50 mix of water and coolant. The kind of coolant depends on the vehicle.

look in the tank or radiator, if it's green then regular antefreeze is o.k., if it's orange then buy some DexCool.

or you could just add water.
