Very conservative guests have been treated well or at worst neutrally by Stewart. It couldn't be worse than going on Tim Russert. What do you think is behind this WH policy?

I would bet Bush has a gag order on everyone in his administration. They are afraid of losing their positions if they go public, no matter whether they say anything that matters or not.

I think they see his spoofing of the Bush administration as insulting. He does treat guests with respect when they appear, I mean he Musharraf on a few days ago.

I think with all of the Bush administration, they are afraid of being exposed for what they are. They might slip up under an intense question and reply with the truth.

Because he is a partisan who will cut their answers short and make them look bad. Or perhaps because it is not a serious news show, and they are too busy doing their jobs to stop and play saxophone on TV.

because the bush folks are misguided zealots, and going to toe to toe with stewart would be bringing a fart to a turd fight.
p.s. clk no self respecting adult would go on the factor to be yelled and screamed at by that idiot O'Reilly, who one day, god willing, will have his teeth handed to him as his first lesson on etiquette and manners (not to mention robert's rules of order).
