My 2 car garage has one light fixture on the outside on one side. I bought an identical one to mount on the wall on the other side. It's wired with 12-2 3 strand and I bought some of it too. How do I connect the wiring to the new light fixture to the existing wiring. Connecting at the switch would be difficult because of an existing insulated wall. There is easy access to the wire where the current fixture is located. The light is just a 60 watt bulb.

Remove the existing fixture, get the new wire into the box and splice it to the existing wire , color to color, leave small lengths of wire on the splice to reattach the original fixture, or if there's enough wire just put the wires from the fixture onto the splice. Run the new wire over the top of the garage door and make sure to secure it so it doesn't get into the door mechanism, make a hole where the new fixture is to go and push the wire through mount a "pancake box" which is a shallow electrical box to the wall then just splice the new fixture to the new wire and screw it to the box. Make sure the switch to the lights is off and put a piece of tape over it so nobody turns it on accidentally. Good Luck.
