Using common sense, one can see that eventually, over many many years, everyone will eventually obtain nuclear weapons.

Is nuclear war inevitable? or will we learn that we have developed so much that anyone can lead to worldwide destruction and thus true world peace will begin?

I meant, when everyone, every country from the USA to Kuwait has nukes, no one would want to start a war.

I would like to add some positive perspective to this black and bleak question. The concept of nation-states is inherently defective. It led to wars in the past and in present. But we are now seeing an emergence of Regionalism (EU, ASEAN, African Union etc). I hope this Regionalism will eventually evolve into Democratic Internationalism. And I also hope that this process should be more swift than the development in nuclear technology.

If this happens then there wouldn't be anymore armed conflicts and wars. As only United Nations will have the right to raise an army. But even in that case we may have threats from individuals and small groups. But these non-state actors can be handled just the way we handle common criminals. Hope that the police and intelligence would be much more effective in that Utopia.

What was meant by "nuclear war" when the USA and USSR had thousands of nukes pointed at each other (and really still do (Russia) although the tension is relaxed and Russia's arsenal is a shadow of before) is NOT survivable, at least for humans. THAT kind of mass killing is historically proven NOT to be inevitable. Eventually somebody might get their hands on one or a few weapons, which is a more likely occurrence. As horrible as that would be, humans as a species would survive.

we will never have world peace as long as religious wars are continuing. its only going to take one country to press the button and it will be the beginning of the end. the only people remaining will be the corrupt politicians that built their bomb shelters and stockpiled food to last through a holocaust. politicians and cockroaches. they are all the same to me.

So are you saying that there will be peace only once everything and everyone is destroyed?
