If the earth were to turn to spin in the opposite way immediately, the moment it turns the otherway , th ewaters of the ocean would inundate the lands , towns and coutries on the western coasts of all continetns , like a Tsunami as the body of th ewater is now inmotiion at the rateof 1108 miles per haour towards the east along with the body of the earth. the body of the earth being sld mass would entirely stop rotating in the direction of the east and would stop rotating towards the west . as the body of water is not a solid mass , and the liquid body is in motion towards the east , it would continue to be in motion in that direction while the earth which is hlding it like a vessel stopped and start moving in the opposit direction , towards wet . so the molecules of the water being losse and wouls slde one over the other would contiue to slide towarda=s the east exept the layer tht is in close cotact with the earth ans gthey loyers of the molecules that are avobe the layer in contct withthe earth could come to reast and statrt moving to wards the west after a long time onlybecause the layers do not experience any friction as a solid does .So the water body that continues to be in a very fast movemnent of more than 1000 miles per hour would continue to mover towadrs the east while the earth would be moving in towards the west and so the earth moving towards the west omn the coastal sides would get submerged under the water body of the oceans all over th eworld . thre is will be a power ful T,sunnami on all aht western coasts of all continets throughout he world .But ocourse , this could never happen as a massive body of 6*24to the power of 10 moving at the rate of 1108 miles per hour can not be stopped abruptly and then made to rotate towrds the ooposite direction. the moment the rotation stops , the sturcures and all lose sturctures and humans and animals on the earth would be flying towards the east in a tangent as the speed of rotation would be morre than the velocity needed to escape the gravitational force of the earth. may be the gravity it self is a result of the rotation and if so gravity will also vanish the moment the earth stops and starts rotating towrds the opposite direction.but surely the electromagnetic forces produced at the poles due to the ratation of th eearth would also come to a stop still when the earth stops and then turns to the opposite direction. The change of rotation will have its effect on th emoon also and it migh also be thrown off into the sopace if the stopping of the rotation would result in the abscence of gravity for a moment . Gravity being an instant force ,its speed is beyond any measure as it is instant .Since the question is confined to the effect on the oceans , the information given is sufficient I think.

For the earth to alter its direction of rotation instanteaneouslu would be impossible, because of the fact it might want an countless quantity of ebergy to realize it. Even for it to take place over an extremely long era will require an extremely great deal of potential - way extra beneficial than humankind can produce. Supposing that something of the style did take place, there would be devastating effects. The earth has a circumference of around 24,000 miles, and rotates as quickly as in in basic terms below 24 hours (23h 56m honestly). which ability on the equator, the substitute of rotation would mean that each little thing status on the outdoors would without notice locate the outdoors shifting westwards relative to it at 2,000 mph - or extra or less Mach 3, those issues that have been somewhat properly-linked to the outdoors would be bombarded with those much less properly-linked, at extra or less this velocity. The seas are no longer properly-atached, so there would be waves traveling at 2,000 mph or so, inundating massive factors of what's now land. There would be massive frictional forces in the earth, until all of it began spinning the incorrect way on the comparable time. the possibility would be that fritction in the earth would reason at superb substantial seismic and volcanic interest, at worst finished re-melting of the crust. one way or yet another, all existence in the international, different than consistent with probability some very primitive unicelled organisms, would be killed off. opposite to what somebody else has suggested, satellites would proceed to orbit - yet geostationary satellites does no longer be geostationary any further. they'd bypass over any given factor on the equator two times consistent with day now. Telecommunications would be very much disrupted, and your satellite tv for pc television does no longer artwork. besides the undeniable fact that, your television would be long previous, and you'd be ineffective, so in no way suggestions.
