People will point to Ian Wright and now perhaps to Fabio Grosso of Italy (he was playing the 4th division or similar there, before before getting his big break at 27 or 28).
But you must remember these guys were already playing professionally (although with much smaller teams) and playing regularly with proper basic training and coaching.
Unless you are similarly playing for club in one of the recognized lower leagues or better, you have no chance of making it to the top, especially for a league as tough and big like the Premiership.
But don't lose heart if you can't play, you can always take up refereeing or coaching (like Jose Mourinho). Mourinho never played professional or registered amateur leagues. He went straight into coaching at 28 or so. Within 12 years, he has reached the top (with Porto) and by 14, he had won Europe's biggest prize, the Champions League.
He is widely regarded to be among the top 10 coaches in the world.
Arsene Wenger (Arsenal) is a similar case, never played but among the best managers around.
26, is an ideal age to enter refereeing. Train hard, master the rules, use discretion wisely and officiating a lot of games, will stand you in good stead. If you had excelled, by 32, you could be in Premiership and by 35 (at the earliest) a FIFA appointed referee.
So think about it and don't limit your scope in football.

Well, basically unless you're VERY lucky you will not play in the premier league.
Premier League clubs usually snap up all the young talent between 12 and 16 years of age. After that age, they usually only buy or trial players if they have a fantastic record. E.g. Theo Walcott at Southhampton.
All I can suggest is that you play for a local team, and hope that your performances warrant a transfer to a conference club, and then who knows?
All I'm saying is, don't get your hopes up mate.

Both Paolo Ferreira and Ricardo Carvalho have now done this - winning the CL and UEFA cup with Porto, and the FA Cup and Premiership with Chelsea....the FA Cup win happening last year in 2006/07 You may be thinking there is only one - if so, you are slightly late with the question - in that Nwankwo Kanu has also done it (CL with Ajax, UEFA with Inter, Premiership and FA Cup with Arsenal), but the Chelsea 2007 FA Cup win means that the two Portuguese defenders at Chelsea join Kanu in achieving that feat.....

Ian Wright was not 28 when he was discovered. He was discovered in his teens, but played amateur football until he was 21, when he signed for Crystal Palace.

I hate to say it but (not that I doubt that you are good) it's just that many people have tried and have all most always failed.
