I'm from the UK and they try to say treat people equally regardless of race/sex/religion ect that alright. Yet the government that we elect still bows down to some old lady. Can really say she deserves what she and they have and other pensioners in this country are forced to eke out a living. I cringe to think of when the Queen finally kicks the bucket and everyone's all "What a great lady" and crying. Then comes charles and this country will just lie back and let that inbred adulterer take the throne. At least we can say what we think on the internet though. I am ashamed of them and us for taking their crap.

UK Royalty is unique in that since the Magna Carta, our royalty rules by the consent of the people, if we chose to reject them, then we legally can. As they no longer have any real power, most of the public view them as an interesting relic/tradition, and something which brings a great deal of tourism into the UK and a considerable amount of employement. Various reports have been done over the past 10 years, Government, Schools, Hospital etc are always at the top of tax payers money, whilst Royalty now holds bottom place and is assess by the financial institutions to represent the best value for money for the tax payer. Royalty going would not save this country any money as we would have to have a presidential system, which would cost as much and not be a "beloved" figure head, but yet another politian possible in the mold of George Bush..... which would you rather Queen Elizabeth or.....?

I'm Canadian and therefore a British subject and therefore they are my royal family too. I am a supporter of constitutional monarchy and I am pretty much disappointed by the Windsors. In my opinion putting these Hanoverians on the throne for a reason as stupid as religious bigotry was a mistake. I say bring back the Stuarts.

You have to ask yourself what system could we have if we were not a constitutional monarchy.
Just say to yourself,"President Thatcher", or "President Blair" and you will see that a republic has it's drawbacks.
The monarchy stops any one person getting too powerful. It stops any particular politician or army officer claiming excess power.
So, it aint a bad system and Liz has always made a good job of it. There have always been some duds doing the job but they die-off eventually! So, if it aint bust- don't fix it!

I'm proud that we have one because it gives political stability. I'm ashamed because the present incumbents are of German and Greek descent and have no right to the English throne.

The UK Royal family are a standing joke. They represent bygone days when to be a King you had to be addicted to violence, love torture and were prepared to terrorise the population so that you could live in luxury. They still live in luxury and are a constant reminder of things we should all be ashamed of.

Certainly not proud.
The only person of note they had, Princess Diana, brought sunlight into the dusty corridors of that household.
