my co-worker posed this problem to me.... she can't seem to solve it (and I dont remember how to solve it. We have the answer, which is 35....its for GMAT Prep...PLEASE HELP!!!

...= (2)^(-2m) (5)^(-18)=2(-1) 2^(35) 5^(35)
(Not: [10 is seperated as5*2])
=> (2)^[-2m+1-35]= (5)^[35+18]
=> (2)^(-2m-34) = (5)^53
=> -2m-34= 53*log5 (the base is2 not 10)
=> m=[(53*log5)+34]/(-2)

hello

1) move the knowns to the right side of the =
2) take the log at both sides of the =
3) again move the knowns to the right

and you are done m = ...

mlog(1/4)+18log(1/5)=log(1/2)+35
mlog(1/4)=35+log(1/2)-18log(1/5)
m=[35+log(1/2)-18log(1/5)]/(log(1/4)
