Yes. We learn to be otherwise by growing up in a fear-based society, but that is not our true nature. Our true nature is to be loving, accepting, calm, and confident. We forget this because we get lost in the confusion and noise.

No being truthful isn't always easy. It must be instilled during the formative years of childhood. Human nature is at best unpredictable. We tend to like for things to be smooth and easy. Fear holds us back, as the truth can sometimes shake things up a bit.

As a generalization, I believe so. However, I am speaking from experience with young children. It seems that, unless they fear consequences, most young children will either tell strict truths or tell 'stories' (not lies) that allow their imaginations to create a different world.
