I know he is a smart alec and probly brings this on himself, but I am worried that he is going to really get hurt. This is not happening at school, it is happening places like the skate park and public places. He is 16. I don't know if I should stay out of it and worry or try to stop it every time I hear about it. What do you think?

I usually hear about it after the fact, so I can only try to find out what happened. Then you get all different stories. And it is not always the same kids involved.

Have his father speak to him if possible. A male influence can do wonders in this situation.
Find out who your son is hanging out with. Gt to know his friends. Get him involved with structured activities he likes with kids his age.
This is a time he is trying to stand up on his own, but if kids are ganging up on him, he needs guidance on how to handle himself.
Good luck.

You should first talk to your son let him know how his behavior is making you worry. I am sure after you do that your son will feel bad and stop being such a smart alec. He doesn't mean to make you worry he might not even know he is making you worry.

im gonna have to agree that if he brings it on himself u just have to stand back and watch him get his @ss kicked. OR try to change him. make him stop being such a punk to where kids wanna beat the crap out of him. u cant prevent the other kids from doing what they do but hes your son u can work on him. instead of trying to limit the damage from the problem-fix the problem and the problem is your son.

You go down there and teach them a lesson or two, When my sister used to come home crying cause girls used to pick on her in the sixth grade, I was in the ninth. I missed school that day to pick her up. I told her to show me which girls are giving her a hard time, she pointed them out. I got out of my car and approached them and confronted them, I told them that if they want to tell her **** to face me. And that if they want some competition to come to me. And they denied that they ever told her. I told them I'm just letting them know that she does have a sister who will fend for her. And if I hear that you went talking **** that you told me **** or her I will come back, and not just telling them ****. That my fist will be doing the talking. So go down there.

I think you should handle the situation carefully and maybe talk to the people who are threatening your son if that doesn't work talk to your son alone and discuss the problem

Get him involved in karate classes. Not only will he learn to defend himself, but he will be taught ONLY to fight when absolutely necessary.

If he is bringing it on himself, let him get beat up. Maybe it'll knock some sense (and humility) into him.
