What is Windows Vista and does anyone know when it's coming out?

Need to buy a new computer, will have to last me a long time. Just need it for the tons of writing that I do, some music downloading, digital camera downloading and Internet access of course. Want to spend about $800. Keep reading about this Vista, is it the next generation for Windows? Can anyone be more specific about what Vista is and why I keep seeing that everyone should buy a computer that is Vista compatible. How different IS this Vista that you need special requirements other than the common desktops out there can't handle it? Thanks.

Vista requires more from your pc, eg greater ram more hdd space etc.
For the things you will be doing, you won't be needing vista, however you can upgrade if you wish...
Vista is just like the next version of windows, just like windos xp and windows 98.
Some desktops will probably just run vista a little slower than others depending on spec of pc.

Widows vista is the next Microsoft OS which was suppose to be released this December however it look much more likely to come out next spring The big news will be direct X 10 which will only be in Vista and will use a whole new line of direct X 10 video cards. this jump is huge as you will be able to play a game on your PC vs a person on a xbox360.

recommendations to run it nicely will be at least a 2.6 gig p4
2 gigs of DDR2 memory and a direct x10 video card in a PCI express 16 slot

Also adding to the fray will be office 2007 a real upgrade to office 2003 and runs fine on our current general range of PCs

It is the lastest in windows technolog, an update from windows xp. I think it is a good idea to get a compatable computer as it may become the lastest up date.Im not sure about the crequirments but some of my friends have the BETA version and say it is very good

wait for windows vista to come out in mid jan 2007 it will be out at that time dont download vista beta it will mess up the pc

if you buy from hp-computers befor you use any software or put the internet access on it make your system recovery cds up , this is how you do that

HP computers no1 they have the verry best recover system of all

click on start /all programs
in the list go to pc help & tool
then click on
hp-pc- recovery tools-cd
noW click on
creat the recovery tools cd
use a cd(r) disk ...to creater the pc tools cd
then click next
and wait for it to creat a
system tool recovery cd
do not stop it at all
when the system tools
cd is created your have
a system recovery tools
cd- this cd will reinstall
all the software that came with the pc and
now coz we have reset the software it will
restall the software that is on the pc and
reinstall windows xp home and set it back up
windows xp will be reinstalled and set back up

this just reinstall's the software that was on the
the hard drive at the time you buy the pc it will also
install windows xp. os .with out asking for the windows xp cd

to make a back up copy of that cd
then make them as the cds for what they are but make as back copy cd's
then your not get any of them mixed up then put them all in a safe place/with
windows xp cd so no one can damage them
