The director/writer, Sofia Coppola, has said several times in interviews she left that intentionally ambigous. She wanted the audience to make up their own minds what he said to her.

No one will say. I have the dvd and tried putting on the subtitles during that part, and it just says something to the effect of "mumbles inaudibly". One of life's great mysteries.

unfortunately no one knows. scarlet and bill wont tell. adn its not in the damn script i checked(yeah i know im a nerd)

its hard to make out, but if you listen closely he asks to see her version of the script, saying that his version "has no damn ending"
