I tired making baked apples last night in the micro (thanks, Betty Crocker). The apple caught fire, and I was able to blow it out. There was a great deal of smoke. Will the microwave ever stop smelling (of smoke)? Figures it had to happen on a new microwave...I REALLY can't afford to replace it!

It should go away in time. Wash it out with baking soda and water. Then vinegar and water. Leave the door open. When I burn popcorn, it takes awhile for the smell to go away, but it does.
